Introduction The information contained in this book is based on over 30 years of experience in the field of cosmetic surgery. It represents the approach to cosmetic surgery that we take at our Center. It is designed to give prospective patients an idea about the procedures that they may be considering. I have written each chapter personally. We update the booklet every few years to try to keep the information current, recognizing that there is constant change in the field. More recent updates can be found on our website www.newlook.org. It is not a substitute for a personal consultation, but can help to make that consultation more meaningful. Patients come to the Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgical Center for treatment from all over the United States as well as many foreign countries. We are proud of our facility and our staff. The Center is licensed by the State of Texas as an ambulatory surgical center – one of a very few such facilities to be fully licensed. In addition, we are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care - the nation’s leading organization dedicated exclusively to the accreditation of outpatient health care services. Often it is not possible for patients to come in for consultation prior to the time of their surgery. This book was prepared to help you develop a general understanding of the procedures that you feel would be most beneficial. Of course, when you come to the Center, we will schedule a full consultation prior to your surgery, and we may have to modify that initial plan. Not infrequently, prospective patients will send photos by email followed by a telephone consultation prior to a personal interview. Many of our distant patients see us prior to visiting our Center, by coming to one of our consultation locations in cities throughout Texas. Our Abilene location, although somewhat off the beaten path, allows us to indulge our patients with more time and personal attention than others can in a more metropolitan area.
