Welcome to our September Newsletter

Back by popular demand – 15% discount on surgical fee through September

As the recession continues, we are sensitive to the fact that many of our patients are putting off their surgery. In an effort to make things a little easier, we are offering a 15% discount on the surgeon’s fee for all surgery scheduled through the end of September.

If you have been thinking about scheduling but have been putting it off for one reason or another, this may be a good time to make the decision.

Financing Available

Just a reminder to those of you who desire cosmetic surgery but have not yet been able to fit the cost into your budget. The Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgical Center currently uses two separate medical financing companies.

There is no obligation or fee for applying so contact them today to see if this may be an option for you.

When should you have a facelift?

Simply put, a patient should have it whenever they personally feel that they are ready. The term “facelift” can be used to describe a number of procedures to rejuvenate several different areas of the face and neck.

In general, women ages 45 and up seem to show more concern with sagging in the cheeks, jowls and neck. We refer to the procedure that best treats those areas as a Lower Traditional Facelift. Younger women tend to seek surgery to brighten the eyes, soften the laugh lines and smooth the upper facial regions. The Extended Subperiosteal Coronal Lift (ESCL) is a wonderful option that can address all of those issues and more.

Dr. Tobin has been performing ESCL surgery at the Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgical Center, since 1993 and the long term results even after 15 years have been remarkable. This procedure uses one long incision across the top of the head resulting in a scar after surgery that is automatically hidden within the hair. This means patients don’t have to be concerned about camouflage make up after surgery to hide scars while they are healing.

ESCL surgery lifts the forehead, corners of the eyes, cheeks, minimizes laugh lines and even affects the jowls. After surgery, patients notice a more refreshed look and many say they feel that they look more rested and have a brighter appearance.

Facelift

Although it is commonly referred to as the “young woman’s facelift”, the results can be rewarding for women of all ages. It is not uncommon to combine the Extended Subperiosteal Coronal Lift with a Necklift to give a more complete facial rejuvenation, as shown in the example above.

Breast Reduction with Augmentation

Often the Best Solution for Sagging Breasts. One of the more difficult problems that we deal with is the management of sagging or ptotic breasts. For the most part, breast implants alone don’t resolve the problem since they only add volume to the breast and don’t really provide any lift. In many cases, combining a breast lift, or mastopexy, with augmentation can provide a very satisfactory result. However, a breast lift only provides lifting by reducing and tightening skin.

Over the years, we have learned that in many cases, we can achieve a better and longer lasting result by actually reducing the volume of the breast and replacing that volume with an implant. The reason that reduction with augmentation often works better than combined mastopexy with augmentation is that when we do a breast reduction, we are actually tightening the whole breast rather than just the skin. A good way to visualize this is that with mastopexy, we are just tightening the envelope, whereas with reduction we are developing a totally smaller package.

Reduction with augmentation isn’t for every woman, but our experience through the years has convinced us that for many women desiring maximum breast uplift, it is often the best answer.
